Step 2: Determine if data from the SCA can be reused

Where:

Approach for “1. Domestic extraction”

Column B will import the selection that you made in Step 1, on whether or not the material is extracted. The materials that are not relevant for your municipality, because you have selected in Step 1 that they are not extracted, are greyed out and you can ignore them going forward.

  1. Determine if a biomass and/or construction SCA has been carried out.
    • 1a: If not, then you can skip Step 2 and move on to Step 3.
    • 1b: If yes, move on to the next point in this list.
  2. Depending on which SCA has already been carried out, or both, you can check column C for the material scope of the SCA. Column C shows if you theoretically have data from the biomass or construction SCA, since the very material was included in the SCA material scope. For example, if the biomass SCA was carried out, you could already have data on extracted cereals.
    • If you do not have the data from the SCA, use the red cross for that material in column D.
    • If you do have data from the SCA, use the green check mark for that material in column D. You can then reuse that data and can fairly easily find out where it came from to also add it for the second reference year.

Approach for “2. Imports&Exports”

Columns B and C will import the selection that you made in Step 1, on whether or not the material is imported and/or exported. The materials that are not relevant for your municipality, because you have selected in Step 1 that they are not imported/or exported, respectively, are greyed out and you can ignore them going forward.

  1. Determine if a biomass and/or construction SCA has been carried out.
    • 1a: If not, then you can skip Step 2 and move on to Step 3.
    • 1b: If yes, move on to the next point in this list.
  2. Depending on which SCA has already been carried out, or both, you can check column D for the material scope of the SCA. Column D shows if you theoretically have data from the biomass or construction SCA, since the very material was included in the SCA material scope. For example, if the biomass SCA was carried out, you could already have data on imports and/or exports of cereals.
    • If you do not have the data from the SCA, use the red cross for that material in column E.
    • If you do have data from the SCA, use the green check mark for that material in column E. You can then reuse that data and can fairly easily find out where it came from to also add it for the second reference year.
