GDP and/or GVA per NACE code

Goal: Find the gross domestic product (GDP) and/or gross value added (GVA) data for each 4-digit NACE code.

Approach:

  1. Find out if there is any such economic activity in your system boundary (city). If not, mark it as such in your worksheet. If there is, move on to point 2.

  2. If the economic activity takes place, try to find the GDP and/or GVA value per NACE code. Note: If you have already found this info in Layer 1, then you can go to those files and add the additionally required tags, see point 3. In that case, the GDP/GVA info really needs to be on NACE codes level 3 or 4, for example for construction: “B8.1 - Quarrying of stone, sand and clay” or “B8.1.1 - Quarrying of ornamental and building stone, limestone, gypsum, chalk and slate” or for example for biomass: “A1.1 - Growing of non-perennial crops” or “A1.1.1 - Growing of cereals (except rice), leguminous crops and oil seeds”.

  3. When you upload a dataset or another item type, be sure to tag correctly with the 3 fields for tagging: (1) physical location, (2) materials, (3) tags. (The sector field can be left out.)

    • For example for construction, if you add a dataset on the GDP of production of concrete in your city in Layer 2.2. Manufacturing, use the following tags: (1) your city, which is added automatically, (2) the material tag “EMP8.5 concrete”, and (3) 2.2. Manufacturing, which is added automatically and “GDP”. In the uploader notes, you can add that this is about the respective NACE code, so in this case “23.51 - Manufacture of cement”.
    • For example for biomass, if you add a dataset on the GDP of production of ice cream in your city in Layer 2.2. Manufacturing, use the following tags: (1) your city, which is added automatically, (2) the material tag “EMP1.5.3 dairy products”, and (3) 2.2. Manufacturing, which is added automatically and “GDP”. In the uploader notes, you can add that this is about the respective NACE code, so in this case “10.52 - Manufacture of ice cream”.

Tip: look up the names for GDP and GVA in the local language. It will help you find the data more easily.
