Description
Estimates mass of materials going to anaerobic digestion.
Methodology
Sum of organic material going to anaerobic digestion. Data may come from demo managers, waste management companies or the Sector Circularity Assessment Method.
The information above is specific to Sevilla's evaluation plan. For general information on this indicator, please refer to
its entry in the list of indicators. What follows below is what has been filled out by the city.
Part of the actions planned by the city of Seville consists in testing the methane production capacity of the biowaste collected through a process of anaerobic codigestion with sewage sludge in a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP).
The city's wastewater treatment plants have biogas production systems based on an anaerobic digestion of their sludge. Furthermore, in recent years, EMASESA has opted for the co-digestion, together with its sewage sludge, of other industrial effluents with significant biodegradable organic matter content, to increase the production of renewable biogas.
It is consider interesting evaluate how biowaste can contribute in the production of renewable biogas.
